Trip to The Collection

Herons class went on a trip to The Collection museum in Lincoln during the spring term, to support their learning on the Romans.

The museum showcases art and archaeology from across Lincolnshire and the children got to get up close to some artefacts and learn more about the Roman Empire.

Activities throughout the day included shopping at a Roman market, making Roman honey cakes and digging for artefacts.

The pupils also learnt about Roman clothing and even finished off the day with a traditional Roman feast.

Karin Nicholls, Headteacher at Hogsthorpe Primary Academy, said: “The children had a wonderful time and they learned so much about the Romans.

“I think everyone’s highlight was the feast but we all took away some good knowledge to support our learning.”
